Don't think the higher mileage on the 2.8 or 2.9 really matters, my S3 almost hitting the 98k mark, regular oil changes, sensible driving as in, not blipped until properly warmed up after some miles, general common sense really. The number of people I see jumping in there cars and thrashing up the road on a cold engine.
Agreed, now don't deliberately take mine above 5000 revs usually changing at 4500. The torque takes care of most overtakes without having to redline it. Having said all this the occasional foray into higher rev zones is of course required to keep the engine sweet especially if in a tunnel/narrow enclosed street for the reverb?
