Are they really necessary or even very effective? I'm going to Germany next week in my Mk2 MX5 and I'm not sure what to do. They have a clear plastic lens so I'm a bit reluctant to stick something to them that could make a mess of the lights afterwards.
My thoughts are just set the lights to the lowest position on the dash switch. We will be driving from Rotterdam to the Ring.

I just drove with the lights pointing at the floor in mine. Although saying that my car was jam packed of stuff so was probably on the correct setting!

I just cut a couple of pieces of Fablon (B&Q) to cover the dip section of the lens.
You could just as easily use Tank tape or similar.
Some say that reduces the light output too much but TBH unless you're really tanking it I've never found it a problem.

Insulation cable on the right places as well
Take the roll with you should you need a top up
