Thats a good price. Cheapest i can find on mobile.de is around £75k so finding one in the UK for that price is very impressive.

Good luck

Not James Beattie's is it? Poor bugger had a non-fault in his the other day. Not too much damage fortunately.

please can someone clarify the tax situation on these mobile.de gallardo's

heres how I see it -

The dealer is deducting the german vat of 16% because it is going for export

and because the car is 6m old you are liable for no vat here?

If so,interesting.

as far as i've been informed, yes there is no tax to pay on it once it gets here.

just the nominal regsitering fees you'll have to do. if you post a query on the GG to ask what the normal costs would be a for car outside of 6mnths age, you may get further help there

Phone HM Customs. They'll let you know exactly where you stand.

However, I am sure VAT will have to have been paid somewhere in the EU.

If the car is being sold to you VAT free (meaning VAT has never been paid on it in the EU) you will have to pay VAT here. Unless you have a VAT reg number in the UK the dealer may also ask you to leave the VAT amount as security (until you prove you've paid the VAT in the UK).

I'm not sure what happeneds with second hand cars on which VAT has been paid in another country. I doubt you can reclaim the VAT paid when you export the car. So I guess you wouldn't pay it here. But not entirely sure.

I know you don't have any tax to pay on the car when you get it here as long as it's over 6 months, or 7,000 miles on the clock, whichever you get to first. as long as it's from an EU country. But to claim German Tax back you need to prove to Germany that it has been paid in the destination country, and you need to apply in German!
