The advert states 'More torque than a Porsche Boxster'.

Look out for the Volvo truck advert 'More torque than two TVRs & a Ferrari'

Or am I missing the point?

Did they also add the bit about it being 10 times less fun?

Maybe, but I was behind one the other day in the chimaera. We both overtook another car in front, and I was amazed how quickly it went from 50-70ish.

... And then ran out of puff as the driver had to change gear twice to keep up as the engine reaches its limit of 4000 - 4500 revs...

Dont get me wrong - I quite like big TD engines. Lazy performance and nice shove in the back when the turbo kicks in. But there is an awful lot of "sturring the stick" to keep up. If it drops off the boil then you just have to wait, and then when it does get beyond 3500 revs then it is just a case of getting ready for another gear change....

Cheers,

Paul

I was behind one this morning on a dual carriageway coming out of a roundabout. We both overtook another car in the left lane, and I was amazed how long the spikey haired trainee estate agent type in the golf then stayed in the outside lane trying to out accelerate me. We crawled up to 110 before he realised it was futile and got out of the way. Why do Golf TDi drivers all think they're driving a fast car?

I must say I wasn't amazed how quickly it went from 50-70, but then again, maybe he was in the wrong gear

Because they've never driven a really powerful car and this one's got three times as much torque as their recently chopped in vecdeos?

Ooooooh enough.

The extra buns that I get on my mileage claims subsidises my toy cupboard. Just remember that for every £80 of diesal that goes in my TDI I claim back over £400 TAX FREE. They really are great cars for the monday-friday daily traffic jam, just no fun.
