Occupancy sensor problem on the Golf - where to take it?

Hi,

We noticed that the Golf has a faulty seat occupancy sensor on the passenger side. We've spoken to the dealer we bought it from (up in Nottingham) and he said to take it to a garage to get diagnosed.

Any recommendations for a garage who can diagnose electrical faults in these wonderful modern cars?! I'm based near Lymington, so ideally somebody local please.

Or failing this, does anyone local have a VAGCOM who can turn off the passenger seat occupancy sensor? Might be the easiest thing to do.

Ok, I’ve sent Kartechnic an email, I see they now have a branch in Christchurch which would be better for me.

I would rather it went to a garage, I don’t want to start pulling the seat apart!!

Can you just unplug the seatbelt sensor cable (usually somewhere near the seatbelt buckle)?

I was thinking this, I wonder if it's just a castoff opening or closing the circuit

My mum takes her Audi to Hines the vag Indy in Ferndown, they seem to be reasonable

Started chatting to the guy at Kartechnic this morning about remapping the Golf. Has anyone used them for a remap? Would be interested to see some dyno curves or hear of any experiences. I was going to use MRC Tuning, but they're really far away and really expensive!!

I was going to get them to map the RS6 but I was put off because their generic mapping would not have corrected the gearbox softwar to match. As for the golf, unless the gearbox needs mapping too I can't see a problem. One good thing is that theyll take the map off and refund if youre not happy. They are honest guys.
