Hey, i have been wearing ESS ICE ballistic glasses for over a year. Sometimes i like to do 100km or more, while wearing contact lenses my eyes became dry and red after a couple of hours of riding, with protection glasses it's much better but i still feel a lot of wind on my eyes. I was wondering if more wind resistand glasses with some sponge around lenses can help me to protect my eyes from wind better. I know that it may fog faster but i think that if i ride on the road 20 - 30 km/h then it shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly i'm thinking about somethink like that, is it good idea to use it on bicycle ? -->

I use Bolle Tracker II glasses, with prescription inserts, and I've had no problems with the foam surrounds. Apart from looking like a tt that is.

When I had contacts I had a similar thing- my optician told me that dry eyes was one of the first signs of becoming dehydrated, so sounds like you might need to be drinking more on longer rides.

I use Oakley Jawbones and get on fine with rides of up to 6hrs.

Perhaps rather than looking at the glasses perhaps it's your contact lenses that are the issue?

I use Acuview clear vision which I change every two weeks, they are by far and away the most breathable lenses I have used and for the most part they don't cause me any problems.

Sure it isnt hayfever? I get it bad , but prescription spray eliminates it

I wear monthlies and am fine without glasses, I usually just wear the cheapo Aldi ones though

Too true about dry eyes being a symptom of dehydration

I wear contacts and I am OK for long distance rides, if it is really wet I dont wear glases or if dry I wear Oakley Half Jackets. been OK for 15 hours + 300km Audax rides.

I wear contacts and never had a problem in all temperatures or conditions. Currently have a pair of Salice 006 which are great ... never had an issue with dry eyes with rides up to 160km so sometimes up to 6/7 hours on the bike. They fit reasonably close to the face and I have only had fogging up once because it was so damp/misty it was in the external part of the lens!

I use Biofinity Toric for astigmatism monthly, i made allergic test on skin about 2 years ago, it didn't show anything but it was just for few primary allergens(maybe about 10 types)sponsored by Polish health care. I started to correct my vision defect with contact lenses about 2 years ago but before i remember that when i didn't wear neither contact lenses nor protection glasses my eyes became a bit red and dry after longer rides, when i started to wear contact lenses it just became stronger so i started to wear protection glasses to protect my eyes from wind. Protection glasses helped me a lot but my eyes still became red after longer time, so i thought that if i buy protection glasses with some sponge around lenses it will stop more wind and my eyes might be less dry. It's not really big problem when i ride but when i come back home and look into mirror i see that my eyes are red and it doesn't feel comfortable. I also have this problem with contact lenses even when i don't ride bicycle but it happens only sometimes in the evening after wearing them for about 10 hours or more especially when air is dry with low humidity but with riding bicycle it just became stronger. It's not big deal because in the morning my eyes feel better but i thought that i might try to make my riding a bit more comfortable for my eyes.
