Well, for the first time in a long while I can say I really enjoyed a PCGB day out, Anyone else attend this weekend? I went on Sunday. The day started our cr*ppy
but ended up pretty warm and sunny .. I did however have to attend in a bright yellow Boxster S which to my surprise is not as slow as many would think ..

I tested the cars capabilities to the limit on the A1 past P'boro at 6.00am in the morning, need I say any more?

Yes I attended on saturday.

Here are my comments:

Good Points:

Great display of RS concourse cars, my favourite being the black/black Jersey registerred 993RS.

Also spotted 3 959s (white, silver, magenta) and a beautiful silver/grey P reg GT2.

Trade stands good, put my credit card through melt down buying posters and stuff at Gmund Books.

Was introduced to the owner of the most incredibly restored 1962 356 cabriolet. You could have eaten your dinner off the engine. What is even more incredible is that the owner drives the car every week with at least one 60 mile drive. This car in particular made my group wonder if we were just a bunch a classless savages in comparison.

Gripes:

The catering was crap, By 2.15pm the only sandwich you could buy in the Marquee was a Ham and Cheese affair at £4. I didn't spot a single Burger van, what were they playing at?

Porsche GB was not present. It would have been nice to have seen the red GT2 press car (reg no 911 GB) in the flesh, rather than just reading about it it every magazine I subscribe to.

Definitely not as many cars as Highclere a few yeatrs back. Probably to do with the southerners not being brave enough to venture past Watford (Just like Porsche GB).

All in all a very good day out and I'd liked to pass on my thanks to all the volunteers who made the day possible.

I was there both days; my dirty pockmarked RS was on display on the lawn in front of the house. I didn't get the windscreen or headlamp lenses replaced before the event either; since doing Spa on Monday/Tuesday where some fool in a dark gray/black C2 went into the gravel and decided to rejoin the track and immediately get back up to speed on the racing line. If you're reading this you were DUMPING GRAVEL ALL OVER MY CAR at 120mph when I passed you. Thanks.

Rant over.

Note that, despite some RS owners putting a fine polish on their cars, this was not the concourse itself, which was spread around the outside of the lawn on the gravel and had some nice cars polished *underneath*, as well in the wheelarches and so on. Not for me.

Sandwiches at £3.95 for ham & cheese and £1 for a can of coke was excessive. Mind you the beer (such as it was) was £2 a pint so not too expensive and I settled for a liquid lunch instead.

Yes, there weren't as many cars as at Highclere, nor as many stands/exhibitors, but it was still fairly interesting. I wonder how many different wax/cleaning product people we'll see next year; I counted five at this show.

Don't think I'll go back, mostly down to the lorries and jacknived caravans on the A1.
