Son has just had his offer on a house accepted, first time buyer. Has seen his bank for mortgage and checked other main high street banks, building societies, good deposit so all happy to lend the amount he needs. Spoke to Justmortgages.com on recommendation from the estate agent. Two year fixed at 2.74%. £100 per month cheaper than above. Anyone used them, are they independent, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance. G.

Who is the actual mortgage with?

The company you are referring to seem to be a Broker, not the actual lender....

Didn't get that info in quote email, that and a few other question to ask next time, thanks Sarnie.

Depending on the details, £495 is steep in my opinion.......

No personal experience, however I would give Sarnie a chance rather than an in house broker as they may have vested interests. Other members on here have used him

Find out what the SVR (standard variable rate) is, as this might be the rate you get stuck on if mortgages become scarce, so a lower SVR might be a better long term bet if you are comparing rates.

The SVR of the product in question is 5.69%.

I think we've found a much better solution with a 2.79% rate with half the fees and a 3.99% SVR smile
