The run will take place on [COLOR=blue]Thursday 1st september 2005[/COLOR], and we will come back on [COLOR=blue]tuesday 6th september 2005[/COLOR],

feel free to have a read over whats happening,

we are still planing it all, so the run aint completly ready, but we aint far off being ready..

[B]some quick info:
*YOU MUST BE OVER 18 no lessto drive on the contant
*you need to have a valid passport
*almost 500 miles trip there and same back
*only take around 8 hours driving
*will take about a day to get there and say 2/3 days there then a day back (5 in total)
*remember you will need a map reader/co-driver.
*around late Aug time but most prob september time 2005. [/B]

The Mini Forum run to the Nurburgring will take place on the 1st September and we will be travelling to Dover that afternoon then catching a late ferry over to dover... from calais we will head into Belgium and get some shut eye. The next morning it will be on to the ring, and then time for a parade lap around the ring, then off for beers. The following day will be the day we get to race the track if you like, its only around a tenner a lap, which aint bad considering the track is 1 of the most historical in the world, also is 13 miles long...

I was once on a race track (Brands) with a group of drivers who had no track experience and who were trying to drive quickly.
It scared me s***less! No track discipline and no understanding of race-track etiquette.
You all go if you like, I'll stay at home and play with my rally cars!

Hey Cooperman, no offence taken. Its a very valid point it would scare me half to death aswell. All the Minis will be taking part in a parade lap at a sensible speed, with the track closed. If anybody wants to hit the track they will do but i would much prefer it if we could organise a racing class for an afternoon to get the basics of racing etiquette.

My comments were sort-of intended to be cautionary rather than derogatory regarding your efforts.
I have driven the Nurburgring at competitive speed in a Cooper 'S', as a speed test on the Pirelli Classic Marathon, and can tell you that it is a very demanding circuit even for an experienced competitor in a well set-up and prepared car with full safety equipment. To allow a young Mini owner loose on there without any training could be a recipe for disaster and that would be very sad. Remember, the technique for driving on a circuit is very different from just 'making fast progress on the road'.
I think what I'm trying to say, but gently, is "please be very careful out there".

Cooperman, Thanks for the advice i have read all about the statistics ,they dont look reassuring- 1 person a week and can imagine that there will be some "nutters" who will nail it around from lap one, this has made me rethink my strategy and maybe get a professional from the circuit to discuss the dangers with us all, and try and inject a little safety into things.

Went round it in our minis on the way to Italy in October , it is scarey how fast the cars are coming past you and you have to drive on your mirrors . The track is very difficult to judge ( but fun ) . The disclaimer before you go on is frightening , you end up liable for eveything if you mess up .

Keep a very tight driving line to the right , a mini is not in the same league as the bikes and cars that are on the track ( speed wise ).

Cheers for the advice rouge.... i imagine it will be hellish scary if we go on with ferraris etc.
