How will Active Braking Differential affect my 993 handling?

Just seen that I have ABD option on my 'new' 993. How does it differ from Limited Slip Diff, traction control, etc? Will it affect my C2 rear engine experience???

Is it a C4? If so, ABD was a standard feature and nothing to do with the diff. When you start the car the ABD light takes a second or two to go off (longer sometimes/if left standing) while the braking system builds up pressure.

No its a C2, hence confusion...

Originally it was C4 models only, later in production it was offered for the C2 also. Its basically like an early traction control if memory serves, ie controlling power to whichever wheel has lost traction. More a safety aid than anything else. Can't see it really interfering with normal driving.

Aha! Found this... "M224is active brake differential(ABD) for Tiptronic, it is a low speed only mechanism that applies one of the rear brakes via the abs pump when differential wheel speeds are detected above a threshold value"

presumably your car is a tiptronic ?

as usually ABD is seen in M220 cars

Yes. So basically it is more of an aid to setting off on an icy morning, which I am never going to do, rather than LAUNCH CONTROL!
