Hi
An unexpected hole has appeared in the side of my speed 6, Suspect con rod broke. Rather embarrassing at the time I must say!
Before I go buy a recon speed 6 engine has anybody fitted or tried to fit a V8 e39 engine into a Tuscan.
Any ideas on what it would take to convert would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe to wide or E39 sump would fail the chassis cross member......
If anybody has a speed 6 engine for sale of known quality, mileage and service history then please contact me.
Thanks
Rgs

A V8 will not go in a speed 6 chassis without lots of hacking about

I guess it will have to be another spd6 in the end but at 8k a pop and this is 2nd engine in 50k miles, gets a little expensive after a while.
I have the V8 sitting on the drive doing nothing but gathering dust, Just wondered if possible, I know its a lot of messing but actually I miss the sound of the V8 particually my Chimp.
Will look into it in more detail
Thanks

I'd rather not say to be fair. Not sure the reason why it went bang, Thought top end should have gone first if anything. Will strip it down in the next couple of weeks to see what has gone wrong, Then I will decide where to get the next engine from.

interesting topic the so called engine warranty.... havent heard much of that except reading it on paper.... hopefully to moment wont come on mine as i se trouble comming all the way....

in regards of the swap i would not spent 15k+ pounds on a SP6 engine if i would have the choice. get a proper v8 lump as done before and dont open a box of worms...

I thought the BMW unit was a DOHC unit and is probably way too big?

I think a recent issue of sprint they used an old AMG lump which was just about narrow enough to fit (with a lot of tomfoolery).

I believe there's even an article somewhere with Al Melling moaning about the width of the engine bay in the cars being a real pain when designing the AJP8
