Insurance - Fez cheaper than VX..
Discussion
Just been daydreaming about next Rico-mobile.
Been without a car for a few months now and realistically leaving it till post uni.
Been doing some insurance quotes and in a moment of madness did one for a Ferrari 308. It's actually cheaper than my more realistic choices of VX220, BMW MRoadster, Chim400 and a hoard of other cars. These are all quotes for parking on road in London as i have no other parking here, but my mothers house has a large drive and double garage...Obviously i'll end up going for something like a Clio172 but...
If you had the choice would you...
1) have a Ferrari and store it at mum's house, thus being able to drive it say once a month (she'd drive it a bit to keep everything ticking over nicely).
2) have a lesser hot-hatch or similar but have it in London.
I haven't needed a car in the 3years ive lived in london, so i won't have a need in the future.
Ah... daydreaming... gotta love it

Rico,
Difficult question. I don't think I would own a Ferrari if I was only going to drive it once a month. If I could drive it once a week, then yes, that's what I'd do. However, if it was going to be once a month, I wouldn't buy one, I would go down the route of a Clio 172, Porker 968, 964, Griff, etc etc.

I would buy the 308 and keep it at your mothers house but wouldnt let her drive it.
Decent motor plus woman = disaster (only joking ladies)
If you dont need a car in London then dont bother. How much fun can you have in that much traffic anyway?
Johnny, you seem to be spending quite a lot of time in the Italian section recently. Thinking of changing the Boxter?

308 GTB for £20,000, stored lovingly chez Mum, driven weekly - the only way to go mate. The pleasure you'd get from just polishing the thing would make it worthwhile - buy a 205 GTI to dump on the London streets and to transport you to mums.
excellent plan! Difficult bit is finding the 205 = I've been looking for one fo 2 weeks now and seen very few cars - all poor
