I can see now why some cyclists have head cams.
Just been randomly brushed with a door mirror and told to use the "f
king cycle path", all this on a road with No Cyclepath.
Shouty man was fat, pasty looking and driving a big 11 year old merc. No idea what his problem was other than him being a cock, we were in heavy traffic and all moving at 20mph, I was keeping up with the flow and not passing on the inside or outside because of junctions.
Fat cock made an impossible pass and had nowhere to go as there was not a car length in front of me, and clipped me on purpose while holding the horn down.
I wish I had a cam, I would have gone straight to the Police with it, as it is I failed to note his reg because I was so surprised.

His shouty point about cyclepath was aimed at the solid white line that runs on the left of the road, the inside of which was full of glass, litter and drains so I was not inside it, besides, its only about a foot wide and I was moving with the traffic at exactly the same speed as the cars so was in no way in anyones way for them passing, except this fat cock who had followed me for about half a mile and obviously felt he had more right to the bit of road I was on than me and passing was technically impossible.
It good because I don't cycle to work every day and I have seen the car before while I have been driving, I will get his plate soon and will be getting someone to have a chat and familiarising him with the highway code.
Its the first bit of hassle I have had on the bike, I tend to use arm signals and obey the law, keep out of the way and use the st cyclepaths if I can so this bit of aggro took me by surprise, especially since there is no way I was in his way.

One thing I'd suggest - you mention that you were travelling at the same speed as the rest of the traffic, but also that you keep out of the way.
This is a natural thing to do- but it's not the best policy, in that situation stay out in the middle of the lane, so the fat-chap can't/won't try to pass.
Better he eff's and blind's behind you than tries to make a dangerous pass and knocks you off.
So they disgrace themselves like this chap did today.

I was in the middle of the bit of road we were on, following a car. I had left a gap of about 15 feet as a safe stopping distance and was keeping up with the traffic.
If traffic is free flowing I will be over to the far left as the road concerned is nice and wide and I can stay safe.
No two ways about it if I had been on the left this tt would have been beside me and running at the same speed so that would have been wrong as well.
I will get his plate just because it has annoyed me, not shouty/revenge annoyed just that he needs a lesson in how to stay calm, right now he is an accident waiting to happen.

I would do but I know its a small town and I will see him again as his commute is the same time as mine, I like I said I have seen the car before.It could well turn into some sort of him V me thing in his head and I might get worse than a door mirror brush next time if he is so inclined.
I am not going to get into some total toss with a fat angry sales rep so I want to nip this in the bud.

The solid white line of which you speak is known as the "edge of carriageway" marker or "edge line".It is a solid white line which no 'carriage' must cross except in case of emergency.
Since case law (Taylor v Goodwin, 1879) and the Highways Act (1835), along with the Local Government Bill (1888), all confer the status of "carriage" upon a bicycle, then you certainly should NOT be riding on, or to the left, of said white line.
The retard in the 'Benz is a twunt. Worse than that, he's a twunt who doesn't know the rules of the road. I'd have been tempted to point out the error of his ways in the situation you described.

Thanks for posting that, very interesting. He was actually mad at me because I was not breaking the law.
Actually discussing this on here has made me less inclined to get his plate and tell the BiB, I think its pointless.
If I get aggro from him again I will see how I feel then.

I have long held the belief that the more professional you look the more you are hated. As a Aside I was riding home tonight in jeans, scruffy jacket and steel toecap boots. No helmet, and not a shred of lycra in sight. pretty much as unprofessional as it gets.

Next time, (so long as he clips you first) kick his door with the steel toed boots on. When he stops to 'have it out' with you, insist he calls the Police, then when the Peelers turn up, tell them you've been hit by a car whilst riding a bicycle, and see how he gets on with that...
