Having just posted estolling the virtues of steel bikes, why did I spend hours last night looking at new training bikes for the summer?

So I have no spare cash/real need for a new bike but spent ages looking at websites for a new "summer" training bike when I have nothing to "train" for anyway.

All I am waiting for is for a few spares (already ordered) to turn up to put my trainer back on the road, however it is old and aluminium and then I thought, get it back going, save it for the wet and get a lovely carbon summer training bike to ride when dry AND still keep my carbon race bike for a couple of best rides a year.

Simple answer- book yourself into a sportive (or a race) and then you have something to train for.

Because we love buying new toys!

I have two identical bikes. Well, one's carbon and one's metal (or something). The weight difference is about the same as if I let my diet go over about 7 days, next to fk all.

But I still wanted the carbon one after buying the metal one.

It's because my impulse control is governed by chimpanzees living in a Zoo via remote software as part of some horrendous government mind control program.
