My car has difficulty starting up now !
if not used for 2 days she needs a jump start to get her going !
this has only happened since audio installation.

Don't want to sound cheeky, but you may have answered the question yourself - have you checked out the audio/alarm install. . .

Oh and no probs so far!

If she's garaged the easiest solution is to get a float charger like an "Optimate" or similar - you can run a lead from the battery to the grille and than connect up eithout having to open the bonnet.

it has to be something to do with the stereo install... i've had exactly the same problem with my other half's MX5 since having a cat-2 immobiliser fitted... I've had the starter motor replaced, the battery replaced, an auto-electrician check it over and nothing was found... I'm now going to have the immobiliser ripped out and I'll put money on the problem going away.

there are phenomena such as "black currents" which I know nothing about and then there is also the obvious of whether your new stereo system powers down properly when not in use (another useful thing to remember is that apparently, some LED's can draw more current than you might expect).

aside from that,,, your battery could be knackered after the recent sharp frosts... my last car (an Alfa GTV also from Meridien) had it's battery fail (I suspect it's the same unit as yours) due to the cells knackering on one of the first sharp frosts of the autumn

well car was checked for battery drainage,
test the alarm, tracker, cd changer, maserati alarm, lights (interior) and the head unit but non were causing a large drain on the battery.
watched it with my on eyes !
cd changer caused a drain for 10 seconds while is switched off but that was it !

the car is more happy when driven each day though (which suits me (-; )
so i guess thats the cross I have to bear by taking her out each day for a quick drive !(hehehE)

You don't have RAC trakstar do you? That is notorious for battery drain.

Is the battery charging properly? It won't if it's knackered, and short runs don't do much good anyway. About 40 miles at reasonable speed is recommended for a flattened battery. Just to cheer you up (sorry) too many jump starts are not battery-friendly.

Is the car kept inside or outside? Either way you could take exint2's advice. The CTEK charger is said to be waterproof (Porsche sell them with their own label on the casing), and it certaily works a treat. I bought the one pictured on the Rudler website below - cheaper than the Porker version!

Have a look at these:

www.rudler.co.uk/products.html (waterproof, mild, but enough)

www.calamander.co.uk/batteryconditioners/airflow.htm (slightly stronger, but not waterproof}.

Obviously these are useless unless you have a driveway/garage.

I had endless problems with my almost-new 996 Turbo after I'd been in hospital, and ended up getting a new battery. No difference. The drain with all the gizmos is astronomical these days.

Must be a shagged battery on yours though - you're using it regularly. How about disconnecting the stereo for a while and see what happens?

I was told that nowadays Masers have a switch to disconnect the offending electrics. Worth asking Meridien if one could be fitted?

As you can see, I'm no expert - I hate electrics/love mechanicals!
