Gear lever rubber cover.

Does anyone know what car the gear lever rubber cover (under the leather gaiter) comes from? It's probably a universal item but I'm unsure what to order as there's no base sizes given with the ones available from certain on-line retail outlets..

They're a Sierra item and discontinued.

There's a few threads on the subject. I think philpot used a Subaru Forrester one but others have said a LR Defender item can be modded to fit.

I have got a LR item but need to offer it up to see if it can be modded. I couldn't find an idiot guide so will do my usual fumbling until something happens.

If that fails I'll get a Forrester item.

That got junked when I "came across" a Sierra one, came "free" with this.....




There are quite probably many that will do, just have to be careful of "bunching up" which can make finding fifth or reverse difficult

Just a thought, would the Sierra estate have the low ratio diff that Damian has been searching for? If your bro is not going to use it, obviously.

ETA: As you were, I just dug out my old Haynes Sierra manual, 1988 edition.
According to this, the 1.6 / 2.0 Estates were all 7" crownwheels, and final drive ratio was 3.92 or 3.62 ( 5 speed box ).
All 2.0 Sierra hatchbacks were 7" with ratios of 3.38 ( standard ) or 3.62 ( 5 speed box with trailer package ).

So not the one Damian is after.
