BMW beefs up 1 and 7 Series
Bigger 1 Series engine, Alpina body kit for the 7
BMW has announced prices for the 1 Series' fifth engine variant. The new 129bhp BMW 118i rear-wheel drive hatch which is available in Standard, SE and Sport trims, is priced at £17,180 rising to £19,130 for the SE and the Sport. With BMW’s Bi-Vanos and Valvetronic engine technology, the 118i dashes from zero to 62mph in 9.4 seconds with a top speed of 129mph. Fuel consumption is 38.7mpg on the combined cycle.
Standard levels of equipment mirror those of the 116i entry-level model, with all cars including:
- Five-speed manual gearbox
- Six airbags
- CD player
Sport versions add:
- Sports suspension
- Sports steering wheel
- Sports seats with adjustable back width support
SE versions add:
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- Automatic climate control
- Rear park distance control
- Front fog lights
Meanwhile, BMW is also offering a new Alpina aero package for the 7 Series. Available on standard and long-wheelbase models, the kit incorporates revised front bumper styling and wraparound boot lid spoiler. Also available are a new set of 20 and 21-inch Alpina alloy wheels.
The body styling is available from BMW dealers at a cost of £1,195 (plus labour and painting), with the wheel and tyre combinations priced at £3,765 for the 20-inch Dynamic style and £3,995 for the 21-inch Classic style.
Alpina has also launched alloy wheel and tyre sets for the new 1, X3 and 6 Series models. The Classic-style 18-inch alloy set for the 1 Series is priced at £2,295, while the 19-inch Dynamic style wheel for the X3 costs £3,695 and 20-inch Dynamic style wheel for the 6 Series costs £3,995.
