I've a classic 1986 white 911 targa (pretty sure it's a super sports) in need of some work - she's a bit unreliable nowadays and needs a small amount if bodywork doing. I've had this car many years now and I'm not sure if she's that valuable to spend a lot on restoration. Can anyone recommend a good garage please? Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Jane

What area of the country are you in? Who have you been using up until now?

There is a recommendations 'Wiki' under the "Porsche General" forum.

I have also separately seen several recommendations for specialists in Devon, if you use the 'search' function on this forum I'm sure the thread will pop up, but I don't recall many references to South Glocs or Avon area though which will be more convenient for you. Worth a search also on the Impact Bumpers forum, there's plenty of advice out there... Good luck and don't be concerned about travelling an extra 60-70 miles to use a well-recommended specialist, the journey home in a freshly serviced car is very rewarding.

I think once you've been to a decent specialist, and maybe been shown round your car from underneath on the ramp (I always find it helps to be shown whatever it is they're talking about, so that I get a better understanding and also when it's somewhere new, so I believe them) you'll understand and appreciate the value in using them for maintaining your car.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing but I'd suggest that whatever's causing the issues you're having would've been picked up sooner if a specialist had seen it regularly, perhaps even preventing those issues occurring.

I hope you get it all sorted out and enjoy the car.

Post your request in the 3.2 Carrera thread and you will be inundated with very good advice and assistance.
