Anybody have one of these I could make use of? I'm trying to create a simple one in MS Access for our division.

Basically, to be able to satisfy 2 queries:
1. I need help on this activity, show me people who have done this activity before, and also show me people whose skill sets match the minimum criteria required by the activity.
2. I'm looking to learn more about xyz generic skill, show me people who have this level of skill and are willing to teach me.

Anyone done this before and willing to share?

By coincidence I have just created a skills database for a client, but not in MS Access - using a proper database , and web based. At £20k it might be a bit OTT for what you want!

hmmm, bit more than I've got to spend...ie. 20k more

Gis a download, or burn us a CD

I was asking on the off chance someone may have or has seen a simple MS database that I could get my grubby hands on, to save me asking for @£7k to get the Systems division to create one.

Thanks, you at least made me laugh. Seems like its going to be a common thing (skills and experience dbs), as companies try to embrace knowledge management and make better use of resources (people and computers)

If you send me some demonstration dater of typical records I can make you a basic system. Does it have to be in access or is excel ok.

Just E-mail me at ceebmoj@msn.com

I certainly hope so!

The stuff I have was developed for Aerospace, where certification and training records are taken pretty seriously. They had training records in Excel, but had a few mishaps where people who should know better selected e.g. the skills column and hit the sort button - scrambled database anyone? Couple of instances like that (not discovered until much later when technicians noticed that their training record was totally screwed) and they decided they needed something more robust.
