Evenin' all...

Had some odd behaviour from my 993 today... Unlocked it this morning, no problems, went for a drive around, again no problems. Stopped off for a bit to see some people, probably about 2 hours. Went to get in the car to come home and the fob wouldn't unlock the door. Red light showing up on the fob when I pressed the buttons so there is at least some life in it. Walked all around the car pointing the fob in every direction I could, still nothing.
Opened the door with the key, no alarm went off. Tried to start the car, its still immobilised. after a couple of minutes of pressing both fob buttons it finally un-immobilsed the car and it started. I have no idea which combination or direction did the trick.

First port of call when I got home was to swap the fob battery, which has been done but since the issue was a bit intermittent Im now worried it's going to leave me stranded somewhere.

So, if I'm going to swap it out for something more modern and hopefully more reliable, what are my options and who do you trust to fit it? Im based in the midlands.

thanks

Hi,
I have a brand new Hayward and Scott PA1000 immobiliser and and alarm control unit motherboard. It comes with one alarm fob and a sealed red master key.
I believe you can program spare fob's to it with the master key.
PM me if interested.

Hamilton & Palmer surely rather than Haywood and Scott (don't they do exhausts?)

When I used to park (temporarily) next to a large telecoms tower my fob would operate intermittantly - the signal can be interrupted by the power of the telecoms signals radiating to and from the tower. A friend had a similar issue with a Subaru (in a different carpark) so it's not limited to PA1000's.

H&P recently told me that the PA1000 is no longer Thatcham Cat 1, if you need if for insurance. That's a shame as I wanted to keep everything standard.

I'm having a Sigma Cat 1 fitted to keep the Insurers happy.

It's made of stainless steel, beautifully made and adds about 20 ponies.
I stand corrected, Hamilton and Palmer I meant to say....
