Hampton Court Palace - HMS Victory, 26th April...interested?

A good friend of mine has organised a 1,700 mile/17 day ride from Bradford to Gibraltar to raise money for a couple of 'charidies' close to his heart.
There are 17 legs of the ride, of which one which is open to the cycling public from Hampton Court Palace to HMS Victory in Portsmouth. This is the first year of the event so is not likely to be as as polished as a Wiggle event, but it is being sponsored by some very familiar big brand names, the route will be waymarked, and have a food stop half way en-route at a famous 'carrot topped' DJ's pub.
I hope I am not breaking any rules of the forum but am really keen to raise the visibility of the ride to the PH cycling community, and invite as many individuals and clubs or groups as possible to sign up.

Please be clear, I am not asking for sponsorship or asking for anyone to pledge money to support the nominated charities - just wondered if this ride would float anyone's boat - aim is to get 100+ Riders to take part in the first year, so far we have circa 30 riders signed up so have some way to go!!

Anyone fancy this? We are struggling to get numbers up at the moment and seem to be stuck around the 30 mark - the aim is to hit 100+ for London-Portsmouth .......if you are in a club and fancy a different route for a Saturday ride this could be a good option.....

I'd be well up for this, if it wasn't so soon. I'm not yet back on any kind of bike, after what happened in Feb, and to be honest it's too soon if the spot of gardening I did yesterday is any measure of my current fitness.
Normally I'd have said 'hell yeah!" and asked if you were up for riding back up, too
