I have a Tuscan S Convertible and am toying with the idea of replacing the small boot spoiler with the larger one from the Mk2 Tuscan S.

Has anyone done this?

Here's a sketchy mockup - the finished article would obviously look much better but it gives you some idea...

Wouldn't it just look the same as the rear of the 2s or am I missing something? I preferred the larger spoiler as I have it fitted to my Tuscan mk1 - car isn't exactly subtle so may as well go all the way and I like its curves. It is known as the water catcher for a reason though - keep it well waxed or you get water marks after rain.

Don't do it frown .
They designer of the convertible objected to TVR putting that horrible spoiler on his beautiful "lines" . That spoiler is only good for plastic ducks to swim in ... Who whats 1.5 litres of water sitting on their car confused

Spend your money getting your bonnet hinged ... then you can get an engine bay like this :-

Correct. If anyone has had it done I'm interested to know how, by who and costs. Power sell a 2S spoiler for the mk1 boot lid, so I was thinking of getting a new lid too that so I can swap back later if I change my mind.

I really like the 2S spoiler, AND I'm a big fan of ducks so it's win/win for me wink

I love the looks of my car but have this nagging feeling that it's a bit too subtle... A respray in McLaren volcano orange would probably do the trick but that'd also warrant a retrim and I'm not ready to drop the best part of £10k on it for now - perhaps in a few years. I reckon the spoiler would be less than £1500 including new lid and paint, and it'd give me a nice wall ornament (the 'old' lid).

I get the impression you know all the convertibles Keith - are you aware of any with this mod? Don't let being an enabler hold you back smile

If you really want to decrease the value of your car then go ahead. Don't let anyone convince you to change your mind, after all it's your money and you can waste it as much as you like. smile

I'm not planning on selling any time soon so value isn't really an issue. Plus if I do keep the original lid as is then it's not a difficult swap back anyway.

I really like the larger boot spoiler, but may be I am a bit biased smile

Was the reason it was not offered as a no cost option on the convertible something to do with wind noise?

I am sure Power use to sell the whole boot lid with large spoiler, but seems now that they only have the spoiler to fit on to your existing boot lid. Maybe one of the companies selling TVR panels (Central/TET)could supply a standard boot lid and fit the larger spoiler for you.

For me, the 2S whale tail works on the coupe but I'm not sure it'll work on the convertible. But as you say, for the price of a bootlid, a spoiler and some paint, give it a go. It may look stunning thumbup

Personally, I prefer my rump unadorned.... smile

eek What's happened to my car smile

Holding water doesn't do your paint any good either and I'm not aware of anyone altering anything externally on a 'vert. I requested NO silly stinger aerial on the boot on mine when I ordered it ... but TVR still stuck it there... personally If I get the chance that's one thing that would definitely GO !!!
Richard Northgate's car (yours now) was on the the assembly line when I went to view mine ... It's a lovely car , please keep it that way ;} ... but each to their own .
