ARRGGHHH. I've broken my bike.

Well, a very small part of it.

I appear to have stripped or damaged the threads on the female part of the rear dérailleur where the barrel adjuster screws in to trim the indexing of the gears.

I wonder if the LBS can re-tap the threads or clean them up or whether it is a new rear mech for me?

Is it worth going from a 105 to Ultegra.....

i think you need 3 new bikes - you'll need 1 as a spare, in case the other 2 break

well if you insist on using a hammer to adjust the mech... I only have 8/9 speed stuff in the parts bin at the moment too...

Ultegra 10sp Rear mech is only £55-£60 which is pretty reasonable really. 105 rear mech is about £30 to £40, so yes, I would just throw an Ultegra at it The SRAM Force 10Sp Mech is £95!

Shimano 10Sp stuff is pretty good price wise now. It helps that people who want the latest and greatest kit don't want 10sp and will go for the new 11sp groupsets.
