EF-s lens on EF mount and other newbie questions.

Ok, following up on my previous thread, I'm getting convince to buy the EOS 6 which has I believe a EF mount, same as my old eos3 so my 28-135 is lens should fit with no issues and no conversion on the size(ie it stays 28-135) .
To go with the camera I thought I would buy a wide angle lens, the canon 17-40 f4 .
However I notice the EF-s 10-22mm (f3.5-4.5) is about gbp60 cheaper , it has en effective range of 16-35 so in thè same ballpark, the question is, are there any negatives to this?
Seems too easy cash saving?
I'm also looking at the cheapy canon 75-300 IS lens, any better alternatives?
Finally, the cheapest and reliable place to buy on the internet is.....?

Ef-s lenses won't fit ff bodies.

They also won't provide an image circle big enough to cover the sensor if you did make it fit.

Buy the 17-40.

BTW the effective range is only appropriate when you fudge in the crop factor of the smaller sensor.

The lens remains 10-22 though and doesn't magically change

The 75-300 is awful. Really.

I had a 100-300 IS USM 4.5-5.6 which was wonderful for price vs performance. I got it for only £80 on ebay.

Aye the 75-300 is terrible. Best get the 70-300 the L version, one of the 70-200's or 100-400.

Sadly longer lenses is where ff costs and there's few alternatives.

More choices if you go for 3rd party manufacturers.

Tamrons 70-300vc is good and there's some 150-600 etc that are OK .

Yes, the full frame, it was this or the 7d or the 60 or 70d
I'm still not 100 pct , but I think I will go full frame, or at least for a few hours before deciding I'm spending too much and just get the 60d instead!

Honestly whilst the 6d is an awesome bit of kit it really excels at landscapes and low light, the crops are pretty good if your shooting ISO 1600 and below and can crank out some cracking images.

Damn you, now I'm more convinced as landscapes will be my focus, living in Switzerland it would be rude not to!

Well cant go wrong with the 6f then, not like it cant shoot other stuff too.

Managed to shoot some bif on the 6d, not an ideal tool but still...
