Started working for this company in August 2013. Last month was verbally given 1 weeks notice and told that I will be paid for it whether I choose to work it or not.
In December 2013 I have booked 14 days off as holiday. Which strangely enough was for March this year.

Redundancy happened literally after being back for 1 week.

Today I got my payslip and they have deducted my 14 days as unpaid leave.

So the question... is this this correct? If I knew that I wouldn't have a job after my holiday, I wouldnt have not taken it!

You should have 14 days holiday for a six month period. You can pro-rata this for the time you were there.

New holiday period starts every January. So what position this leaves me in?

How many days are you entitled to for the year? So from Jan to Mar...your entitlement is a quarter.

Oh unless you carried any over from last year.

It doesn't make a lot of difference to anything much, but that doesn't sound like redundancy, they just terminated the contract with one week's notice.

Your starting point is to look at your contract on how holidays are accrued. If you want an opinion then the contract terms and the holiday already taken is important information in order to have an informed opinion.

Entitled to 20 days a year, none carried over from last year.

There was no contract in place.

There is a contract, you just may not have a written copy of it. The terms applying would be whatever you were advised when you started or statutory minimum if none are defined. Assuming the latter you can work it out on gov.uk, at https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlem...

So you used up all of last years entitlement. Last month you took 14 days (that's just shy of 3 weeks if working a 5 day week).

20 days a year = 5 days for Jan-Mar, so they should deduct 9 days pay from your final paycheque
