Since a bit of sand from the Sahara came down, all the whiners are out again, banging on about the climate and using the car as the focus of their attentions. Talk on the London radio's today of reducing speed limits to a walking pace, shutting roads and creating more and more obstacles. When will they realise that Cars are not the only source of pollution - if cars are so bad, why do we keep making and selling them, when that does even more damage to the environment in their production - the hypocrisy is just astounding. He we are taking EU environmental regulations to the n'th degree while the rest of Europe hasn't the same focus - certainly the rest of the world doesn't adopt the same conscience. No doubt another excuse to tax us into oblivion. Arggghhh i'm so angry - just have to rant.
Totally agree-bl***y tree huggers!! Cant they work out that driving slowly is actually worse for the environment as you are in a lower than necessary gear, driving at the same rpm for longer ergo more "pollution". Maybe that's why us humans were given brains & them "trees" roots! Talk about thick as 2 short planks
Totally agree just another excuse for additional taxes so the 'scientists' can keep their research budgets.
The Climate is changing no doubt, are we as a species effecting it? That I doubt.
CO2 as a component of the atmosphere is 0.03% yes just 0.03% that minuscule and we as a species add another minuscule amount.

This is from an email a Canadian friend sent me some time ago. I'm cannot say all (any?) of it is 100%correct but it is someone's opinion and certainly makes some sense, to me anyway

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in just four days - yes, FOUR DAYS - by that volcano in Iceland has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon.
And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time - EVERY DAY.
I don't really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should
mention that when the volcano Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth.
Mt Pinatubo was active for over one year - think about it.
Of course, I shouldn't spoil this 'touchy-feely tree-hugging'
moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the
well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which
keeps happening despite our completely insignificant efforts to
affect climate change.
And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud,
but the fact of the matter is that the forest fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year.
Just remember that your government just tried to impose a
whopping carbon tax on you, on the basis of the bogus 'human-caused' climate-change scenario.
Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention 'Global Warming' anymore, but just 'Climate Change' - you know why?
It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past
century and these global warming bull artists got caught with their pants down.
And, just keep in mind that you might yet have an Emissions
Trading Scheme - that whopping new tax - imposed on you that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer.
It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting or forest fires, that’s for sure.
But, it creates a situation whereby the government can justify increasing taxes.

The irony is that the trees those huggers love depend on the carbon gases for synthesis to survive, so they should really be applauding our small efforts.

Ian - music to my Geologically minded ears. I was taught about the Milankovitch climate cycles when I did Geology which says exactly this. About the eccentricity of the axis of the earth or the "wobble". In a nut-shell, it doesn't matter a toss what we are doing, because its ain't going to get warmer - its going to get a hell of a lot colder as its a Geological fact we are heading to the next ice age. I just get so fed up with the constant whining by these limp wristed hypocritical do-gooders. And then the media piles in, blows it out of all proportion (probably because they've been asked to by some political body) and before you know it, the government tax this and that and we're all f..... While we're at it, the Germans closing their nukes and building new lignite/brown coal plants will, apart from putting a metric s
t-tonne of carbon-laden death into the atmosphere, will put more radioactivity into the environment in a year than all their existing nukes have in the entire time they were in service. Burning evil tyrannical Russian gas also releases plenty of radioactivity as well, but apparently the German watermelons don't care about that.
