Aperture and RAW with Canon 450d

Ok bear with me as I'm still picking this up!

I've now learnt the basics of my SLR and I am fully comfortable shooting in full manual mode. I now want to start playing with post production and RAW files.

We have a mac book pro and have been recomend trying Apature for processing but I've checked their list of compatible cameras for RAW and they only list the Canon 500d and not the 450d.

I've been into the Apple store today but they were not much help at all, so does anyone know if Apature will alow me to start playing with RAW files from a 450d?

I'd try Adobe Lightroom (around £99) too and see which one you get on best with.

These are not only RAW processors but also 'asset management' too, a good way of keeping things organised / searchable. If you want more fine-grained pixel-level editing then something like Photoshop Elements may be worth considering too

Thanks for that, ok I think I have been an idiot. The 450d is listed:

EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital X2/450D

I overlooked it as the 500D is just listed as:

EOS 500D

I would still check which one you prefer before spending money though, there are a number of options from the popular Lightroom to the more 'professionally aimed' Capture One.

Do you not have Canon DPP that came with your 450D, it should be on one of the disks that came with your camera? I find DPP to be a great tool for RAW conversion and there has been a recent update.
