If you retire at 65 is your last day at work your 65th birthday, the day you started work with your employer after your 65th birthday, or the 5th April after your 65th birthday?

It's which ever you choose, as your employer can no longer terminate your employment on age grounds.

Thanks.

I lack knowledge wrt pensions.

I'm now confused as to how age is related to an employers pension scheme.

If you can't be made to leave at 65, is 65 just the age at which you receive a pension payment from your employer?

Could you still be working for them at 80, receiving a salary which includes a pension contribution, and also be receiving a pension income from the same employer at the same time?

They don't make this st easy do they?

Perhaps invest in some sort of stool softener, Richard confused

Anyway...your Scheme rules tend to give you loads of info but as a general rule you can start drawing your Company Pension from 55. Once you start drawing these benefits AFAIK you stop making contributions to it so your scenario is not realistic.

Your STATE pension date is determined by the Government - mine will be 67 - at which time you stop paying NI and you have the option to take it or defer it for a bigger payment in the future.

Lots of IFAs on here so they will correct any errors in my overview smile
