S info and advice needed

Hope you all got out for a rumble in the sunshine this weekend _ I am a long-standing driver of another example of the marque.

I have just bought this little S2 for 3 grand off ebay on behalf of a friend who lives in Germany.

He is a serious engineer and wants to restore it to it's former glory and convert it to LHD.

He converts RHD Landrovers to LHD all the time and has vast skill at fabrication etc.

It is very solid underneath and has had the outriggers done.

Mechanically it is fine - been well looked after and quite a bit of history - but not the original sales docs. I think the fuel pressure regulator is going at full chat and the heads have been done because it goes like a scalded cat

The paint is very tired

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me the colour - is it starmist?

Does anyone know this car or it's past?

The seller said it is Cureton but it isn't - too shiny.

Also does anyone know which car the steering rack comes from on LHD models?

The rack is a TVR "special" based on a Vauxhall Chevette so there should be plenty of LHD Opel "whatever they called it" to plundy for parts

Is the "spec plate" still in place, it should have a colour code on it? Ebay says it's green, looks like a solid colour rather than metallic?
isn't Starmist a mettalic blue?

Starmist was available as blue, green,silver and grey on the griff and chimaera.

I know not about these earlier cars - except my old mate Mike Smith had the best V8S in the world!!!!! - a red one that was in amazing condition and nearly as quick as my 52 Eales-engined griff.

It is definitely metallic

I can't seem to find it st the moment, but on the web there's a website that chronicles a RHD to LHD conversion of an S Series. There's a LHD S in Florida with plenty of pics for reference www.wirewheel.com

I contemplated doing the conversion, but having RHD in the USA is a lot of fun. Ask anyone that has a RHD in a predominantly LHD country and they will probably tell you it makes no difference, other than when it comes time to sell to a market that doesn't know any better.

Difficult to tell from the photos but looks quite similar to Niiige's S4C....

It's hard to tell from the photo's - if it is Starmist Green it does change colour depending upon the amount of light on it. I'm not sure to be honest - it doesn't look bright enough.

It doesn't look like BRG though does it. Mmmmmmm.

Maybe it's had a re-spray at some point. A bit like Turbo Tony's had - which is a very sophisticated green
