Shooting a load!
Discussion
This week just about to start replacing the outriggers on the Chim, and any other work it will need doing , while welding on the chassis..
..Now my welder has just reiterated what , I've been putting off on the S. Is to start drilling and probing wax oil or Dimitrol in the Chassis tubes to stop the rust from inside out ,due to condensation build up ....
To be honest I rather have this treatment inside the tubes ,rather than spraying the outside ...to extend Longevity of the chassis.
On going chassis maintenance is a pain , but should not take to long if I carry on wire brushing and treat with rust remedies and por 15 ..every year ..

Only "downside" of Waxoyl in the chassis, imho, is it's a (flammable) pain if further repairs are needed at a later date !
I drill a hole and then squirt a goodly amount of engine oil inside the tubes, then plug the hole with a washer and self tapper. This allows refilling if you ever get a leak and allows the oil to splash around when cornering. Worked we'll so far and spreads much easier than the wax oil. You can also drain out by drilling a small hole low down and then welding up later if rework is requiredKitchski said:
Chassis tubes only rot internally if a hole appears due to external rot in my experience.
But with an S (or any TVR) that's the problem, outriggers invariably rust, rot through and the crap gets in before you're aware. Unless you cut right back and replace everything it's going to be in there!Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
