I've bought a used brake servo off e-bay and I need to clean it up a bit. The rubber gaiter at the back has split. I'm not sure how to remove it,as it seems as if the rod it's connected to can't be removed. Can anyone advise me??

Is the actuating rod held in by a circlip by any chance?

Which servo did you get, the correct ones are getting very difficult to find nowadays.

I couldn't see a circlip. It's from a ford fiesta xr2i. I've just lifted the pressed rim from the casing...the cover flew off.:rolleyes

That will be the spring then.

Why would you want to separate the casing halves?

Yep.I thought I could remove the actuating rod,but of course it didn't help. It will at least make it easier to clean up and repaint.Any ideas where I can get a new rubber gaiter seal from?
