Yes, house insurance is due at the end of the month. Since spending a little bit on bikes this year and having to list all 9 of them ( updated from 5 last year) with Swintons on Thursday, they advise that Aviva wont insure pedal cycles over £1500. So I said I would take the loss and insure the bikes up to £1500 , if they were individually stolen or damaged. They said they wont accept underinsuring the bikes either !!
So, I did a money supermarket thing. Listed all the bikes, with the Dolan Di2 at £2900 as the most expensive. Set all the rest of the house details and building details the same as before and hit the button.

Best offer was from ...............Aviva....... £100 less than with Swintons, covering all the bikes as well.........
Phoned Swintons today and said I wont be renewing, explained the reasoning to a confused insurance girly, as to what I found. Insurance is numbers in a hat thing, I am sure. So, bikes on the insurance, got my house and contents, other items listed, non bikes and spent £320 all in !! So, have a look at quote me happy, when the time comes.

Hiscox were the only firm who would cover me, and then they'd only cover the race bike when it was in the house.

I did manage to get the SRM insured as a separate item, as it could be transferred between bikes (not that it was).

And it took a lot of arguing about wheels to get the Zipp's listed as a separate item, but they did agree in the end.

Try Marks and Spencer, their bike coverage was good enough for me.

I took the bikes off the house insurance and took out separate specialist bike insurance. My bikes aren't worth a lot but it also covers me if my bike gets nicked from transition during Triathlons. Plus I get PL insurance including during racing.

M&S were Ok for one year, then they just got too expensive. To be honest I was surprised at the figure from Aviva direct and did check it 3 times over before hitting the button. This also covers accidental damage and cover outside the house in that as well.
I used Prudential in years gone past, but it was cheaper to insure my TVR than just the bikes on the policy.

Direct Line home insurance. My bikes are kept in the house and they're all covered. They weren't even interested in me naming them specifically on the policy as none of them are over £10k each.

I added £4000 worth of bikes to my policy with the Post Office. There was hardly a rise in premium.

Edit: Bikes are only covered when I'm not riding them.
