Desperately need wheels for 540i
Discussion
I am considering buying an E34 540i but the wheels look way too small.
Can anyone help me out with a recommendation for wheels? What are the biggest I could safely get without needing to make any other alterations? Has anyone got any photo's of an E34 with decent wheels I could see?
Cheers in advance...

You could go all the way to 18" wheels without problems as that is what was fitted to the E34 M5.
The fronts are 8.5 x 18 on 235/40 Z18 or 245/40 Z18
The rears are 9.5 x 18 on 245/40 Z18 or 255/35 Z18.
Hartge do a nice selection as well. But all wheels/tyres in this size will be almost twice the price of the 15" on the 540!

Nice 1 M-Five thanks for that.
I actually saw a set of E34 M5 wheels for sale second hand for about £600 but I'm not sure off the top of my head what they look like. <---(edit) just looked in your profile
If I went to 18" are there no odometer/speedo changes needed etc?

As long as you kept the overall tyre circumference to within 1% it will not be an issue.
I'm sure you know how to work out the circumference of a tyre, but . . .
(Wheel Diameter {15" in mm = 381mm} + {tyre height = profile x tyre width [55% x 225mm] = 124mm} = 505mm) * PI (3.1415926) = 1586mm (approx)
