S2 - chassis repairs on or off ?

After eleven very happy years of owning my White S2 I made the decision at the beginning of 2014 to sell the car as I haven't been doing the mileage over the past few years (700 miles since 2011) mainly due to work commitments and health matters. I decided to MOT the car on Monday and then advertise it for sale. It passed its MOT but was given an "advisory note" that chassis and outriggers were showing signs of corrosion. I have made potential buyers aware of this on the advert on a well known auction site and have lots of questions coming back asking if it is repairable without a full body off scenario. I have looked under the car and although there are isolated patches of corrosion ( the car is waxoyled and dry stored/used only) I cannot see any holes etc. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to repair without taking the body off so that I can pass this information on?
Depends on your experience, but lack of access can be an absolute 'mare when trying to weld. You will definitely do a neater and more thorough job by removing the body, but of course there are other things to consider.
Just don't do this:
Found that on a V8S we've got in today. Someone's done a body lift (and painted it with bloody Hammerite....might as well have used brake fluid) and even with obvious good intentions (we've found grit from the blaster all over the place, so they tried to prep it properly rather than just wire brush it) sometimes it's best to do the whole thing.
I've found upper, vertical and lower chassis rails which needed doing on a few S chassis' too.

If any issues are only with the outriggers a 4" body lift will probably be all that's required to repair and paint.
