Sticking front brake pads
Discussion
Morning all. Any advice on the following would be appreciated, as this is a first for me after 9yrs, and 40k miles, of owning the Tuscan.
I went to use the Tuscan in yesterdays fine weather, and found both front brakes completely seized up. Try as I might, they would not budge, which resulted in me calling the AA and ultimately, the wheels having to be removed to allow a closer inspection and solution to be found.
The issue seems to have been newly (June 13) fitted, good quality brake pads, which upon closer inspection, were found to be stuck hard to the discs. Only after some time and effort could these be released, with the outcome being that on one of the discs, a chunk of pad remained stuck with other pieces of the brake pad crumbling before my eyes. Last time I used the car, I did not do so in an unduly brake-heavy situation (i.e. high heat), and although conditions were damp, the wheels were not soaking when I last parked her up.
I may be naive, but I would not have expected that after only 2,000 miles or so since fitting, without track or heavy use, and without really cold recent weather, that they would have reacted this way? I took the car out (on deserted roads!) after the AA visited and the first few miles were very strange - I could easily feel, through a juddering brake pedal, the remaining "stuck" piece of brake pad on the disc for at least 3-4 miles before it eventually wore off with heat and regular hard braking actions. Either way, it is going in for immediate replacement.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Did you buy the pad from a reputable dealer? I once bought decent pads for an old car, only to find that they were Chinese copies. Everything about them looked kosher - the pads, the box they came in etc. The performance however was dire.
Purchased and got fitted the best pads for the car (Ferodo DS2500 I think) as I don't believe in scrimping on this - my more detailed understanding of this issue now indicates these pads often have a higher metal element than standard road pads, so post washing or after a wet drive, spirited driving to dry out the pads is recommended. Learn something new even after all these years with the Tuscan
