I'm test driving a Murcielago at the weekend with the view that instead of a nearly new RHD Gallardo, I can get a used LHD Murcielago.

Any views on pros/cons of comparing the two models?

Thanks
Jon

Given that both are fast, and incredibly talented cars (and I've not driven either of them) purely on practicality - if you're going to drive in europe at all a LHD murky has to be the choice.

If you'll be driving mostly in blightly, then the more compact dimensions of the gallardo and RHD might prove beneficial.

In the end thoguh, personally I'd have to go with scissor doors no matter what - it's a lambo! Good luck in your search

I came upon(fnar fnar) a Murci on my ride out of London yesterday...unbelieveable road presence. Wide and low. To be honest it looks incredibly compromised as an A to B racer due to sheer size...but crikey what a car. Made my fleet look totally inadequate when I got home
Consoled myself with the fact I was tonnes faster through Londontraffic on my bike

LHD Murcie - I recall Manu driving one for a while and saying it caused him no problems. He's had experience in LHD Ferraris and other Lambos so it might be a bit interesting at first but definitely possible to use a LHD Murcie in the UK.

Looks - Murcie has it. The scissor doors are worth their weight in gold.

Driving - dunno. Ask Simonspider about his Murcie as he adores it. Jamesketchall and others on here have Gallardos. My mate with a 360 drove a Gallardo and he said there was no real soul to the car, a testament i've never heard about the Murcielago.

Engine - V12 vs V10... Perfection vs F1 style... its a close call.

Garage - is yours wide enough for a Murcie? Remember if you can get it in, the doors are vertical which makes it a tad bit easier.

Simon has had to have a new garage built

Which personally I find nothing unreasonable in doing at all

Murci, All day long!

I've put a deposit on one, but due to one thing or another, I won't get it for at least another 4 weeks...

The Murci dwarfs the Gallardo in every way. MHO of course.

Tuan

And get a Tubi! I won't take delivery of mine unless it is fitted.

and he pulls loads of birds too

ok, that might also have something to do with the fact that he's not a bad looking b@st@rd and a thoroughly nice bloke to boot, but humour me here ... it's the car I tell you

Im really warming to the idea of a Gallardo, but the Murci is king for appeal...

(never driven either, obviously, but in a few years...)

I've said it many times but the Murcie is the nuts. Thanks for your kind comments about mine. I've driven the Gallardo a couple of times now, its a stunning car. Its a little slower till 100 (not too much in it though) but after that the Murcie rockets away like nothing i've ridden in before. But its trump card is its road presence as previously mentioned . Those doors are fab, and it stops people dead everywhere. Brakes are'nt fantastic and better on the Gallardo (which has bigger rims & discs until the 2005 Murci where they go to the Roadsters 19" rims and brakes.)
LHD Murci or RHD Gallardo? Its a tough one.It would have to be the Murci. But then its complicated by depreciation issues but I can't see LHD Murci's falling much further. Next Vmax its going round that circuit so many times it won't turn left by the end of it

And one more thing, the Gallardo does'nt make as much sound as the Murci. Even without a Tubi the Murci has that gorgeous chain & gear whine rising and falling which you don't hear on the Gallardo. It reminds me of the old Miura in that way although obviously not as loud which is a shame. Well some of you have heard the Tubi.My neighbours have! Ta for your comment Al, it does help with birds! Apart from the one who was more interested in my Dyson vac and 'did it pick up cat hairs?' She thought the Murcie was a Porsche stupid cow.I actually had the garage altered cos of the width.I love that car.

I like the sound of the next Vmax plans, may I book a passenger ride in advance?? Tried to get a ride last vmax, but whenever I walked up to it, you either drove away or were no where to be seen

Out of interest, how does the Gallardo compare to the Murci in terms of cornering ability?? Does the extra weight hinder it slightly, or does the extra track help??

Yea sorry bout that. I had to disappear early with this photographer from Evo but of course you can have a ride, just let me know on the day.
Theres not much difference in handling at all although the Murci feels heavier and slightly more planted. If you really push the car it understeers massively then suddenly it flips and the backend comes round, then its almost impossible to catch. Even if you do it'll then go the other way so you might as well just hang on. The traction control is a pain and seems to cut the power on accelaration so best left off. The Gallardo is more nimble but quieter and it feels more compact which of course it is,but the handling on the limit I have'nt experienced, you'd have to ask James on here. Did a lot of doughnuts handling on the limit tests etc up at Tockwith runway recently on a Ride Drive course. Really good laugh

LHD Murci's in town are hard work. Less so than the Diablo GT - but never the less - it's not as easy as it could be.

LHD Murci on the open road - it's awesome!

I'd imagine a LHD Murci in town would just be too big so nipping thru traffic would be hard.

I'm sure I'd get used to it though .....

I'm thinking Murcielago, because (apart from MPH04) i've probably seen only 2 or 3 in London apposed to the much greater numbers of Gallardo's spotted.

Whats the view on residuals?
