Time to do the Interior!(recarpet, audio,leather repair/dye)
Discussion
Hi guys - hoping to get my car back soon from good ol str8 six - and then looking to set about sorting the interior of the car.
At the moment - grey carpet has faded to a greeny colour.
Leather in pretty good nick apart from a little wear in places.
Car stereo makes annoying beeping sounds sometimes for no apparent reason.
The rough plan(please give your input!):
Buy wool wilton carpet of the appropriate size from Martrim - Majority of the car to be carpeted in Black with Dark Red leather edging with the opposite way around used for floor mats.
Leather to be dyed using furniture clinic products - again mainly to a black (I like the contrast it gives in the cabin with the silver) with some leather areas in a dark red (such as gaiter and some other choice parts)
Steering wheel - Changed to Momo millenium
Audio system changed from a black plastic one at the moment to a metal fronted one - http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/818/n4...
Also fitting speakers 16cm at rear and amp at same time with 13cm speakers in the door if this will fit.
Overall should be quite a transformation!
Probably won't get the chance to make a start on it until 4 weeks from now - but would love any and all advice to help in any aspect of the project!
Cheers!

Before you buy carpets and fit them yourself, get a quote from a trimmer who will buy carpet by the meter and make up the carpets.
The difference in price between buying carpets and fitting yourself and a trimmer starting from scratch may not be as much as you think.
Best of luck though.

I rang dave the trimmer and his quote was £800 - will see how much it will cost. Thing is to dye all the leather and fit the audio I need to take alot apart anyhow so I'm not sure it will end up being much more hassle to do the carpets while everything is out.
Will definitely get a quote first on the carpets and see - on that note.. anyone know if the precut carpet from lakeland is decent quality? Will it fade in the sun like the old stuff? Otherwise I may well buy it from them.

Sorry its not really on topic but i did wonder why it 'randomly' made that beep also !! As a new owner, im glad to see its not unusual..(cue the Tom Jones hips dance) but i thought maybe it was to tell me theres a traffic update or something as i think i read their fitted with digital stereo as standard ? Im still toying around with it - i have convinced myself i can stop it :PAppreciate the recommendation but I'd like to try to do it myself!
I've now ordered carpets from Lakewell - will feedback and post my progress.
I'd love any and all advice regarding any of the aspects I'm trying to redo - nice thing is after doing this I'm hoping I'll know the internals of the car inside out!
