Has the monthly challenge/competition died?

Entries in the PH forum comp and challenge threads have been steadily waning.

Last month there was only 1 entry for the Competition and 1 for the Challenge. Does this mean we're all comp'd out?

I always think a little healthy competition is just that, healthy...

Maybe we need to come up with something different - or some more incentive? PH sponsored monthly give away???

Ideas?

I think that having two doesn't help, while they are struggling I think they should both be rolled in to one (probably the challenge, to get us out and shooting).

I'd also suggest changing the judging - submit your photo to the discussion thread and then at the end of the month kick off a poll to let us all vote for the winner (whether we've submitted ourselves or not). Having an extra way to interact should help get the buzz going again (as would the concept of coming second/third)

Finally I'd be wary of stickying all the threads. There are a lot of stickies in this forum and people become blind to them - only looking at the changing threads underneath.

There is a downside to having open voting on the competition, which is it can just turn into a test of who gets the most mates to vote on their photo. I recall that happening once on here when the competition was decided by a vote (I think the official judge had gone AWOL). Not sure how we could avoid that.

Just a quick bump to see if there are any more opinions on this? Shall we try a slightly different format for April and see how it goes?
