Fiat 500 issues
Discussion
a female friend has started having a few issues with her 3 yr old Fiat 500. twice under warranty the rear loom has been repaired due to wires breaking up in the section that flexes as you open and close the boot. that has lead to bulb warnings etc and is (touch wood) ok at the minute , however this weeks new fault is the heater blower failing to blow warm air. the fan is blowing, so i'm assuming either an airlock etc or control valve issue not letting warm water through the unit.
the wiring loom issue is a known one, does anyone have similar knowledge of heater blower issues etc?
cheers

As above, sounds like the flaps that direct the air aren't working as intended.
The wiring issue with the boot is common; the 500 convertible, where the loom feeds through lower down, suffers a similar problem, as does the Alfa Giulietta. Other common issues with 500s include engine breather pipes splitting (you'll start to smell fumes in the cabin if this does happen), suspension top mounts wearing very quickly (notchiness / slight coarseness through the steering wheel being a giveaway), and the rear boot handle seizing. This can also be a symptom of the aforementioned wiring fault, but if the remote key is still opening the boot then it's likely to be the boot handle itself which has seized. At dealer prices - and subject to adjustment dependant on labour rate! - budget around £45 for a breather, £225-250 for both front top mounts and £185 for the rear boot handle, which only comes are part of the whole rear chrome trim.
