clipless pedals / shoes

looked back a few pages and no job, apologies if this is a recurring thread, i'm new in this section!

so i've been cycling for 6wks, minumum 3 times a week. i enjoy it and think this is a sport/exercise i will continue for a long time to come.

i'm looking at getting some clipless pedals and shoes and so would like some recommendations.

i don't need top flight gear, but also don't want entry level as i am looking to buy a much better bike over summer and would swap over the pedals to the new one.

what is seen as a good trade off between price and performance. what is the mx5 of the pedal world?

I use Shimano R087s and 105 SPD-SL pedals. They're common as muck and not too expensive. ETA: this is for a road bike.

I think the R087s have been replaced by the R088.

I use the exact same set up as MrsMiggins.

My first time pedal/shoe combo too, easy to get in and out of, not expensive. Perfect for starters.

To practise hold onto a wall or similar and practise clipping in and out before heading out onto the road, eventually becomes second nature

Went for my first ride on Sunday, and came very close to toppling over twice, but not joined the club - yet!

Just don't pretend you are Dougie Lampkin, trying to balance until the lights turn green, and you'll be ok.

i'll be fine then, there are no lights where i ride and no cars at all.

the fizik r3's sound good apart from comments re: ventilation. we're already high 20s and i will be riding up to ambients in the high 30s. anything better for ventilation??

diadora mig racer cr's look good but no reviews.

anything else i should look at around £100? prefe to buy from wiggle as they ship to me and i want a few other bits and bobs from them.
