</ugghh, I don't like the lights>

For their part, Abarth have turned out the 695 biposto with 187bhp.

It was rumoured that the Alfa 159 replacement was coming too, but it looks like a false start on that rumour.

There are updated MiTo QV and G QV variants, but probably not much to write about. Possibly the Alfa/MX-5 collaboration is repurposed to be something other than Alfa, i.e. Abarth, but we'll see.

That 4C reminds me of the Elise so much. Colleagues also spotted it on my screen and said is that a new Lotus.

That gearbox looks promising in the Abarth! Lets hope it comes off in the driving, as its a little pricey even against its main rival - the two seater Mini john cooper works GT - its 10k more. I doubt that will put people off though.

It is over 230kg lighter, and has almost 20bhp up on the Mini BHP/Tonne. Plus on the inside at least, it looks a whole lot more racy.

Rather excited about that Abarth.

I agree.
I reckon by the time it goes in to production it may have a carbon hard top, at least that is what I hope. I've always preferred open air motoring and this will fit the bill nicely. The Coupe from the side angle does look a bit squished (not only my observation either) whereas the spider does away with that profile.

Having had and currently own a 'Spider' I love the extra sense of bringing the outdoors in, so to speak. If they get the hard / soft top right (nothing like the VXR220 I had please!) then it will be a winner.
As one motoring journalist said, get your deposits down quick as there will surely be a rush for it. Luckily I did that a few weeks ago.
