I suspect a similar topic may have been raised before but I'm too lazy to look.

Wife's X5 needs a new set of tyres. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Dubai?

If you don't mind some banter with some Lebanese fellows then I always use the same place on Umm Suqeim, last time I got quotes from various suppliers they were the cheapest in Dubai (there's a cheaper dealer in SHJ but they're a pain to get to and not the best to deal with)

Head up Umm Suq from SZR toward the ranches, U turn at the second opportunity and they're on the right hand side, it's a big workshop with a huge goodyear sign on the side.

Lord Land Tyres. On Umm Suqueim St. Drive down towards the Arabian Ranches from the Mall of the Emirates and its the last shop on the left before the bridge by the Pertol Station.

I did the tyres on my wifes X5 there. They were new, original fitment run flats. I am pretty sure I paid around 1,200 aed each tyre, as a pose to the 1,800 to 2,200 they wanted elsewhere. The date was 2013 (When I fitted them in 2013) so all good. That was including fitting. Of course, just be sure to check the dates on the tyres and be sure they balance them. They are cheaper places and sometimes they try it on. I know the chap well there so he is cool with me now.

Also, the garage as you come off the SZR from Dubai into Internet City on the right is good. Its in the petrolstation which is always packed in the morning. Their prices are pretty damn good.

On the link I posted, you can enter the tyre size you are looking for and it gives you the options they have price wise for the size you have entered.

Just by way of an update ... I got the following quote from MSW for the X5:

"Bridgestone Dueler HP Runflat – 2013

Front: 275/40/20 106W – 1,450 each x 2 = 2,900 Dhs
Rear: 315/35/20 110Y – 1,600 each x 2 = 3,200 Dhs

Prices are inclusive of fitting & balancing."

I think I paid like 4,600 AED for the standard tyres on my wifes 2013 X5 3.5 X Drive. Whatever the standard fitment is. I know it was run flats. That was for Lord Land.

Does it have to be run flats?

Let me call bridgestone and see what I can do.

I must confess that I thought the run flats were instead of a spare wheel ... but apparently not. I know they harm the ride but she does the commute from Dubai to Abu Dhabi every day and presumably getting a puncture in a run flat means she can at least get back without having to change the wheel on the hardshoulder of SZR.

Am pretty sure X5's dont have a spare? My wifes doesnt. Hence the run flats.

As I understand it a spare wheel was an optional extra for those who didn't want run flats. Mrs T has confirmed that hers does not have a spare wheel so going back to the original question, yes run flats are essential.

Reply from Bridgestone in Jebal Ali Free Zone:

275/40R20 RFT: AED1,980 each less 10%,
315/35R20 RFT: AED2,300 each less 10%

With free inclusive:
1. All 4 wheel balancing
2. Nitrogen gas filling
3. Free tyre rotation and balancing for the first 10,000km (after purchased)
4. Four tyre mounting.
5. Wheel alignment

If you like I can ask what week/year they were manufactured.

We used to get 20% discount on Evolve, but bridgestone did not continue sponsoring us! If in doubt, ask and I have. Will await their response.

Even with the 10% discount the total would be 9,774 AED against the quote from MSW of 6,100 AED. So it looks like she'll be making a trip to Al Quoz.

Many thanks though for taking the time to get the quote though.

AED7,700 if my calculation is correct.

Still more expensive, but you are getting 2013 tyres - do you know what week they were manufactured. If early in 2013, your tyres will be a year old already. That said, i have asked Bridgestone the question on their tyres. let me see what they come back with.

I also asked about the 20% discount.

Yes sorry you're correct, I'd inadvertantly calculated 3 wheels for the back !! Should have used an abacus instead of MS Excel.

I will ask MSW about the date. Cheers.
