Anyone got any pictures of the cut outs required in the rubbers?
Can you just cut a vee in the outer rubber?
The old rubbers just seem to have been mullered with a heat gun by the garage that did it previously (not pretty)

Yes along the bottom edge which I guess let's water out that is being held on the inner edge of the seal which will presumably overflow into the cabin if not present

Punch a small hole, inject superglue and hold together, looks very professional.

By lowering the outer lip of the seal any water that gathers in the slot naturally runs to the outside of the car.

But why is it gathering? Surely the water on the outside side of the seal would run from the targa panel down the seal, on the outside, and naturally flow off the sill? Is this a preventative measure for cars that do not reside in a garage to prevent water from building up from leaky seals and water ingress to the cabin?

There is a natural channel in the seal, water will gather wherever it can. This just helps to tip it out. Next time you wash the car you'll notice it smile
