Chris Boardman will appear on TopGear to critique a "Public Information Film" about cycling which has been made by Clarkson/May.

I know I'll get flamed by some (many?) on here, but I still like TopGear. Yes, it's very short on facts and real advice, and it's definitely an 'entertainment' item rather than a 'factual' one, but it still amuses me (mostly). I also know that this item will be a bunch of silly nonsense, and an excuse for Clarkson to have one of his (scripted) rants, but as Boardman says, at least it'll get cycling seen on a mainstream television programme, and demonstrate that it's not the sole preserve of "Lycra louts" and "lentil weavers". I'm looking forward to this particular item, but I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it for myself.

My guess is that the entire piece will be them swearing and shouting at drivers, with the final summation that cycling through London is bloody dangerous / knackering so it's better off to drive.

Still as long as they haven't over scripted it, it could be entertaining.

Hi Alex. Shoulder is much better than it was. Still a lot of pain, massive reduction in mobility, and all the strength of a soggy KitKat, but lots better than the first week or so. There is still bruising coming out, but it's not yet 4 weeks, and the bone mend was estimated as 4 to 6 weeks, with 2 to 3 months for the soft tissue stuff to heal. Hope is for a full return to 'pre accident condition' but I've been warned that it may not repair completely as before.

As for the bike, I can't bring myself to have a proper look at it right now. A cursory glance while I was in the garage loading the tumble dryer shows that initially it doesn't appear too bad, but my fear is that there may be damage where I cannot see it, within the structure of the welds and tubes. I'm going to push for a full replacement, on the grounds that it is unreasonable to expect me to trust an impact damage frame that may catastrophically fail at some future point. I suppose I really need to take it to an expert, who can inspect it and advise, but I don't really see that they can identify 'hidden' damage any better than I can.

I've taken the first steps toward appointing legal advice, although I haven't signed anything yet. The driver's insurer wouldn't deal direct and suggested I get a solicitor. There's some way to go, but at least "I'm not dead yet" wink

One dislocation was skiing after the other two accidents following cars hitting him on his bike, he is in the "it will never be the same again camp", at least with all this spare time you can investigate getting a job wink
