how long does it take to replace a bulb.....
Discussion
it started off as a broken sidelight lens + bulb - no problem i thought, replace both so they look the same after ageing, half an hours job i guessed.
set to work saturday - nice and easy. then remembered that i had lashed up a broken adjuster on dipped beam. no problem there then, i had already bought replacements, pop em on, go for a drive. silly me. after constant fiddling about to get the siezed adjusters out, even longer to get the second adjuster to seat in the front retaining socket, whilst wondering what the auto adjuster was doing in amongst it - no swith/knob in cabin -it was finally done. must have been 3 hours. thought best do t'other side whilst here. same ball ache of a job. then the stainless headlight surround/holder comes away from the fibreglass. was only ever stuck on part way round due to the fibreglass not being quite complete. ok then, mix a bit of fibreglass resin, stick it on and away we go. no such luck. i then got bored, and went home for a coffee.
anyone able to recommend or has used an adhesive that will act as a filler that is suitable for sticking surround on firmly, whilst allowing it to be removed if need be at a later date?
thanks in advance

Hi Vince.Cor that brings back memories of my then new T350c. I was getting water in the head lamps.Nothing new there me thinks. (TADTS). Ask if you don't know what that means. It was still under warranty,so back it went to the dealers at Stansted Essex.
All done I was told, and I was well pleased....Until it rained. Bugger I thought. I'll fix it myself as I work with fibreglass.
Like yours mine were held in with random blobs of P40. Thats the filler with fibreglass strands in it for strength. I touched on a blob, and it just fell off never to be seen again. I went to B&Q and got only what can be described as a Turd in a plastic bag. What it really was was a two part epoxy filler/ paste in the shape of a turd. All you do is break of a chunk, mix it together with your hands(wear the gloves provided) You will notice the more you mix it it starts to get warm and a bit less viscous. There is nothing you can do with this sticky mess until it starts to go hard after about 5 minutes. After this time it becomes like plastercene.(spelling)and less sticky. This is when you start to apply the filler around your lights. You can usually still mould it for about ten minutes (this filler is quite temperature dependant).
Hope that helps,as it worked for me.
Dave.
