Kazaa has caused big problems on my system when I've tried to use it. Personally, I prefer WinMX, or just lurking on the newsgroups!

and I want some free music into the bargain, just tried kazza, and failed at sign up screen which is'ent saying much for ease of use still

SoulSeek is very good for music downloads.

Here is the link for the website, its not very clear so: right click 152 > save as.

When the program is installed it will ask for a user name, make one up but make it totally individual because if someone else logs on using the same name you get kicked off!.

try the downloads sections for bands such as www.madisonstrays.com [very good track, 'last train' on there. also try the download section on www.drownedinsound.com . you have to sift, but its quick and worth it, albeit VERY indie! www.limewire.com is by far the best peer to peer illegal download program, no trojan viruses and downloading is about three times faster than kazaa, which is something to be avoided unless you pay for the 'lite' version. also try www.suprnova.org if your're looking for albums!

Right, tried both kazza,and blubber? without much success.
The initial set-up for a start up was so slow on kazza, i gave up and looked elsewhere rather than wait, another site made such a drawn out thing over inputing CC details, i got fed up of going through it time and again for no apparent reason,which made me think if its like this trying to pay for it, whats the service gonna' be like?

Went with shareaza in the end, which although a bit slow on my original dial up connection, seems OK,now I have broadband
But since we also installed webroot spysweeper, in order to combat pesky pop-ups, have noticed music dried up, due to firewall settings, on PC
now what do i do?

Forget Kazaa, shareza, all that crap.

Get Azureus, and use www.suprnova.org (can't be done by authorites for this)

Or get soulseek, purely for music.

Kazaa and other networks are FULL OF VIRUSES AND CRAP.

Totally agree, dont use any of that CRAP unless you want Viruses, Trojans and Spyware.

Remember a big number of Virus/Trojan attacks start on their networks. Virus/Trojan writer, writes his virus/trojan then simply uploads it to one of the Crapazza networks with the file name [insert latest song/album, britney spears naked etc] and thousands of unsuspecting users are now infected.

I'm not saying you will not get a virus from any of the other networks but you increase your chance 10 fold on Crapazza networks.

I use Limewire, basically a gnutella client and it is great although doesn't have the breadth of esoterica that the original Napster had back in the day.

Just about to download this when I noticed the potential incompatibility with XPSP2 - is this the case? If so Soulseek's probably not going to be much use?
