I'm new to the forum and have been thinking of getting a road bike for fitness with a view to competing.

I'm a complete beginner, so I'm after advice on what magazines, websites or cycling stores in the Essex area would be best for buying guides / tips on a bike and equipment. My budget is around the £500.00 level!
