A Precedent?

Did anyone catch the TV program last week, where a guy failed to stop after an accident? The other driver was taken to hospital for slight injuries. When the police turned up at the driver’s house, they found his (damaged) car in the driveway. When they asked the driver why he failed to stop, he said that he was in a hurry to get home! He then got off with a caution – no fine, no ban. So next time you’re stopped, just say that you are in a hurry to get home – you never know you just might get away with it!

This kind of thing infuriates me. The police seem to give a high priority to speeding and other 'minor' offences - but then when someone really does take the piss they can't be bothered to follow it through.
