Hi - Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place (I don't know where to post this). I'm looking for a pre 1972 Porsche 911 T Coupe in any condition.

If you want an absolutely perfectly restored 911 T - I have one I'm looking to ( potentially ) sell. It's been in restoration with a Specialist for the last year. Back to bare metal, finished in Slate Grey with new De'ser houndstooth check seats ( as per the Steve McQueen "Le Mans" car ! ) 2.4 engine which has been stripped and completely rebuilt as has the 915 gearbox. It'll be finished in about a month.

Selling as during the course of the time it's been in restoration I've managed to buy myself another 911, a new 981 Boxster , an Integrale EVO 2, an RS4 and a Fiat Abarth 595( to go with the other cars I already have !)- as I really can't help myself !

Drop me a line if it's of interest to you

Do you mean 1971 and earlier (which means a 2.2l engine) or pre-74MY (when the impact bumper cars arrived)? If I were you I'd toddle down to WH Smiths, buy a copy of Classic Porsche magazine and call all the specialists advertising there. Many are still sourcing cars from the US, which is probably your best bet.

Also keep an eye on the DDK forum http://www.ddk-online.com where cars will be advertised from time to time.

You'll need deep pockets; decent 911Ts are now £30k cars in good order, and 'projects' have followed them up in value. Professional restoration costs are also high, easily £10k for body and paint, £8k for an engine rebuild, £2k for a gearbox refresh, and any missing parts are expensive too. On the up-side, they were mostly built by hand so a fumbling amateur can handle a lot of the work themselves (ask me how I know).

Absolutely. That's exactly what I did when I restored my 2.4E in 1989. Only bolts that needed 'help' were those on the exhaust.

1971 and earlier! I checked on ddk already and not much on there at the moment. Have you rebuilt on yourself? Is it do-able by a non mechanic?

It does say, it comes with a correct 5 speed gearbox, but the ENGINE was from a sportmatic, which would have had a torque converter fitted, hence the lack of flywheel.

I suppose you were after a silver one too? Red is just soooo '80's no?

Oh well, keep looking!

Sorry yes I didn't read that properly! Not after a silver one this time - already had one! Not too bothered about the colour this time as I want to make it solid black! smile

Well give it a look.
If the car is as rust free as advertised, it looks a good start for a project.
You can blow £20-30k on salvaging a rot box on metalwok alone, and a least you can see what your buying, not shiny st with a silly price tag?

Good luck!

Well I've known 911s beautifully restored by non-mechanics, but you clearly need some aptitude, decent facilities and a lot of enthusiasm - particularly if you want a good result. Learning skills on a valuable old 911 probably isn't a great idea.

I stripped my car down to the shell and I'm re-assembling it at the moment. However I have used specialists for blast cleaning, paint, gearbox rebuild and some trim work. I'm no great technician but I've maintained cars in the past and built three Sevens.

Hi, I've got a 1970 911 T Coupe manual, LHD California car, Silver with Black, 14" Fuchs, think its matching numbers but waiting for a coa, I imported it last year, vat paid with papers, but not uk regd

I'm currently restoring a 69 T and an 81 930, so don't have time to do anything with this one for a while

Its a complete car, though will need a full restoration, the floors look good, will need outer sills, may need inners but they look ok to me, some wing repairs, will need front suspension pan, fuel tank support, front panel, battery boxes, engine lid(rusty)and rear valance (damaged),fuel tank, engine turns easy

Has door pockets etc, dash is cracked, interior is complete , will make a nice car

Please contact me if interested

Thanks
David
