Good price that, how do these compare to the GP4000s?I swapped GP4000s for Race Pro3s and really like thm. I bought some Pro4s when Decathalon had them on sale a while back but havent fitted them yet. Despite being slick, I think the Pro3s have a greater level of grip in both the wet and the dry compared to the 4000s. The centre of the tyre is a different compound to the outer and is a fair bit stickier than 4000s, certianly for the first hundred miles or so this increases rolling resistance but not for long. Havent had a puncture yet and I've been using Pro3s exclusively for almost 12 months, on some pretty rough roads too!

Have personally switched from Pro4's to conti gp4seasons for the winter. Run the Michelin's a lot, both in pro4's and krylion carbons (which I think were the predecessor to the endurance - certainly the niche they filled).
As a race / summer tyre, I rate the pro4's highly. I didn't have a great deal of luck with them or the krylions when the roads got more messy, they seemed to get cut up a bit too easily. Wet grip no issue with either. My one 'downer' on the michelins is that they seem a *very* tight fit. No way I can get them on/off without tyre levers (and a fair bit of swearing), whereas all the others I've had (contis/vittorias/hutchinsons) can be fitted, and in some cases taken off without levers.
Hadn't heard good things about gatorskins in the wet (rubber compound?), but I've been persuaded to try GP4seasons. So far they've been very good (4 months/1000 miles), they seem bulletproof (that'll be me flatting next time out), and grip is fine wet or dry.
Also, with respect to the tread question: The whole slick/treaded thing is pretty much irrelevant for road cycles. Given the tire pressures/dimensions/weight upon them, you would in theory need to be doing something in excess of 90mph to aquaplane, and even then, the 'treads' you see on a typical road tyre are pretty much useless in the sense of water dissipation. Basically the footprint is small enough, and the weight on it high enough the water gets squeezed out ahead of the contact patch.

I'd rather avoid being a fractured neck of femur statistic and pay for grippy tyres that last less time.
For me, that's Vittoria Evo Paves - managed to eek 4000k out of them, but really should have swapped sooner. Zero p*nct*res. If someone can tell me of a grippier winter tyre, I'll switch. Last time I came off, I was lucky. Happy to pay £50 a wheel.

While I can't speak for the pro-4s, gatorskins aren't the answer IMHO.They fulfil the "cheap, puncture protection" but the grip is rubbish.
4seasons are in my mind the answer, riding gatorskins after riding those and the Gators feel greasy...even on dry roads, the 4seasons definitely roll faster too.
